Garza & Becan-McBride Phlebotomy Student Scholarships

ASCP members Kathleen Becan McBride, EdD, MASCP, MLS(ASCP)^CM, and Diana “Didi” Garza, EdD, MLS(ASCP)^CM, have established this endowed scholarship through the ASCP Foundation to support students who want to become phlebotomists.

ASCP Laboratory Science Student Members are eligible to apply.

Scholarships up to $1,000 are available to support academically high-achieving students with expenses related to their education.

Applications are due April 11, 2025

Application Requirements

Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Have successfully completed at least 50% of training in on of the following:
- A NAACLS approved phlebotomy training program
- A phlebotomy program approved by the California Department of Public Health; or
- A structured training program that meets the ASCP BOC structured training program Eligibility Criteria (Phlebotomy Route 2)
