Since being named an ASCP Forty Under 40, my career trajectory has been particularly exciting. In the last three years I鈥檝e become the Chair of Pathology at the Lehigh Valley Health Network, now part of the Jefferson Health system, and I am the Chief Medical Officer at HNL Lab Medicine.
In the past seven years since being named a 40 Under Forty, I鈥檝e worked on numerous projects that were significant. I led the implementation of a new LIS at my previous employer, Geisinger, and have implemented Digital Pathology at HNL Lab Medicine. I鈥檝e also had the opportunity to lead numerous innovative projects that improve laboratory practices and patient care, including population-based screening projects, informatics-based test utilization improvements, and the optimization of laboratory workflows, all of which have had a tangible impact on patient care. These efforts impact not just day-to-day operations but also the company鈥檚 long-term strategic and business planning. Through these efforts, I鈥檝e gained valuable skills in managing and leading cross-disciplinary teams, as well as an understanding of the business side of laboratory medicine.
However, the biggest lesson I鈥檝e learned is the importance of collaboration and adaptability; successful transformation relies not only on technological innovation but on cultivating the conditions and culture that embraces change.
